| 1st April - 26th September 2010 | Renishaw Hall - The Fascinating Collections of Sir Osbert SitwellThe Performance Gallery is featuring the amazing collections of Sir Osbert Sitwell – Champion for the Arts – many of the items unseen including works by Picasso, Rex Whistler, Wyndham Lewis and Cecil Beaton to name but a few. | July/August | 9th July and 23rd August | Wortley Hall Friday Afternoon Guided WalksWortley Hall has 15 acres of formal Italianate gardens surrounded by 11 acres of informal pleasure grounds, a delight at any time of year. A broad terrace, surrounded by shrub roses, overlooks the hollow garden which is planted up with a collection of dwarf rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and Agapanthus. Clipped Yew hedges, stone balustrades, a fish pond and arbours all add to the formal elegance. Spring finds Wortley Hall at its best with huge clumps of snowdrops followed later by drifts of daffodils and a haze of bluebells under the trees. £2.50pp. Meet outside reception door at 2pm. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the gardens history and the developments which are now taking place. | 28th December 2010 | Wortley Hall Christmas Guided WalkWalk off the Christmas Festivities with a guided tour of Wortley Hall Gardens. The pleasure ground at Wortley Hall are a real aboricultural treat . Take a walk of discovery and see the wide range of unusual trees some older than the hall and some more recent. 18th and 19th century plantings including Giant Sequoia, Bhutan Pine, Scots pine, Sweet Chestnut, Beech and a ancient hollow Oak some 500 years old. More recent plantings include collections of Hollys, Sorbus and Walnut £2.50pp. Meet outside Reception door at 2pm.
