Wentworth Woodhouse Gardens

Wentworth Woodhouse Gardens occupy a large part of (and are accessed via) Wentworth Garden Centre. The gardens, which adjoin the magnificent mansion of Wentworth Woodhouse, developed from the 16th century, fell into disrepair in the middle of the 20th century. However, they are now being substantially and faithfully restored by the present owners. Entry to the gardens are free of charge but donations towards the restoration are welcome.
Maze, Bear Pit and Hot Walls
Important features include the replanted maze, the Bear Pit, ornamental and Japenese gardens, "hot" walls (which would have supplied the finest most delicate fruits such as peaches, pineapples and apricots) and a wealth of stone and water features.

Coffee Shop
The garden centre also boasts a 100 seat coffee shop serving delicious home made meals, cakes and pastries prepared and baked 'in house' by our 'culinary experts'. Indeed, because the coffee shop has a first class reputation, many visitors simply come for the food alone.
In this age of highly processed and often tasteless foods, the option to enjoy traditional home baked 'goodies' is a temptation that few can resist.
