The cornerstones of this region are the city of Sheffield  and the towns of BarnsleyDoncaster and Rotherham. These welcoming towns sit at the heart of Yorkshire’s southern countryside and on the edge of the Peak District National Park

Shopping, Villages and Market Towns

Leading shopping malls, niche shopping areas and bustling markets, Yorkshire South is an ideal place to enjoy a wealth of high quality shopping where you will be sure to find yourself a bargain.

Or visit some of the smaller market towns and villages like Bawtry, Penistone, Silkstone and Tickhill you will find lots of gems hidden away like the Pot House Hamlet where you will find a variety of shops, a cafe and a garden nursery.

Heritage

The area is renowned for its Industrial Heritage and this can be seen across the region.  Make sure you check out Abbeyedale Industrial Hamlet in Sheffield or Wortley Top Forge to see the start of steel making in the area.  Or buy some flour from Worsborough Mill milled using the operational 17th century waterwheel.

Why not also visit Conisbrough Castle which has been recently restored, it is a fine example of medieval architecture and was one of the inspirations for Sir Walter Scott's classic novel, Ivanhoe.

Cutlure and Theatre

For a cultural feast you must take in The Millennium Galleries or enjoy a theatre production at the world-famous Crucible Theatre or the magnificently restored Lyceum theatre next door.  Then of course there are plenty of productions in the many smaller theatres throughout the region.

Sports

Enjoy a sporting day out at the brand new Keepmoat Stadium; Sheffield Ski Village Europe’s largest all season ski resort catering for all levels of ski, snow boarding and snowblading; or Rother Valley Country Park where you can enjoy all types of watersport and other outdoor activities.

Must See Attractions

Then there are the unique must see attractions... Magna, the UK’s first Science Adventure Park and the redeveloped Doncaster Racecourse home of the St Leger Festival and of course the magnificent Chatsworth House with its splendid gardens is only 15 miles from Sheffield City Centre.
